The MU series of compact mixers made its debut in 2003, and since then has gone on to be one of Phonic’s highest selling analog mixer series’ to date. With that in mind, it seemed only natural that Phonic would want to refine the models to keep that success alive. The all new MU series will recapture a lot of what the MU (and the more recent AM) series stands for – namely, affordable and versatile mixing in extremely compact enclosures – while adding more inputs, new input types, new digital effects, level meters with more segments, and more detailed routing abilities.
The MU502, MU1002X, MU1202, MU1202X, MU1722X, MU1822X and MU2442X will all be on display during the coming prolight+sound show in Frankfurt, Germany. Users will be able to see the all-new design, as well as scrutinize the newly added features, at this year’s show.
New features in the Phonic mixer line may include additional XLR inputs, more channel insert points, level meters with greater resolution (up to 12 segments on certain models) and a 32/40-bit digital effect processor with 16 preset programs, footswitch jack and a single parameter control for the effect’s main parameter.
Reintroduced to certain models in the Phonic line analog mixers are 1/8” mini-stereo jacks for input and output. Ideal for use with iPods and PC computers, the mini stereo jacks are included with (and work in parallel to) the RCA 2T Return and Record Output jacks on many of the MU mixers.
